My Review
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher as part of the publication blog tour, in return for an honest review.
I enjoy watching Death In Paradise, and looked forward to reading this novel. It’s like a modern Agatha Christie story. I wasn’t disappointed! As with the TV series, you are kept guessing about the villain and the motivation, with plenty of misdirection based on assumptions made by the reader and the police.
I enjoyed the plot and writing. The plot was complex and writing easy to read, the characters interacted in a realistic fashion. I found the way DI Poole bumbles through his relationships with the others in his team endearing, as he tries to settle into life in the unexpected environment and attitudes of Saint Marie.
The denouement was unexpected and the murderer a complete surprise. If you watch the series, you’ll know what I mean. And this is definitely one for fans of the series and similar books.
